Adrenaline – Game of the Week
One of the most popular genres of video games has to be First Person Shooters (FPS). From Battlefield One to Overwatch to Titanfall, each year players have many ways to take out their aggressions.
Yet as popular as the FPS genre is in video games, it’s never really translated all that well to our tabletops. There have been some attempts in the past (Frag comes to mind), however most of them are best regulated to that dusty discount bin in the back of the game shop. That is until now.
Adrenaline
Our Game of the Week this week is Adrenaline. Published by Czech Games Edition, Adrenaline takes the fast paced, high action nature of a FPS video game and brings it to our tabletops…successfully I might add.
What is the Game?
Interestingly, there are no dice in Adrenaline. You don’t miss when you take a shot. You grab weapons, load up on ammo, and shoot the other players. Combat is fast, furious, and there are even three ways to play the game (Deathmatch, Domination, Turret). There are dozens of weapons included in the game, many of which tap into familiar FPS tropes (Chainsaw, rocket launcher, and rail gun to name a few).
Players will move around the board, grabbing weapons, ammo, and power up cards. Death happens often, but like any good FPS games, respawns are plentiful and quick.
Why should you play it?
While Adrenaline may look like a standard minis game, it’s anything but that. It almost feels like a euro game as players must constantly manage their hand of cards and resources. Adrenaline plays like an area control game where the people are the subjects being fought over, not territories. The game play is very unique and an absolute blast to play (pun intended).
We’ve been loving our plays of Adrenaline and expect this one to be making its way to our tabletops quite often. So grab a copy of Adrenaline and lock and load. You’re in for a fun ride.
